About India

Golf In India

Golf in India has a long history dating 1829 and boasts of a diversity that draws many golfers to the country. India was the first country outside Great Britain to take up the game of golf. And it had already been played here for 59 years before the first major course was opened in the USA and Europe in 1888.

The Royal Calcutta Golf Club, established in 1829, is the oldest golf club in India and the first outside Great Britain. This was followed by the now defunct Royal Bombay Golf Club in 1842 and the Bangalore Golf Club in 1876. The Shillong Golf Club was established in 1886.

The country has over 140 golf courses in the most picturesque diverse locales - in the mountains, plains, deserts and at beach resorts. And one can explore the beauty and diverse cultural heritage of India through its golf courses, as each course has its own unique setting and regional flavour.

Golfers can play in Delhi, at the wonderful old Delhi Golf Club, surrounded by ancient monuments, in beautiful hill stations amidst tea estates in the south, in Gulmarg, Kashmir, at the highest golf club in the world (2700 metres), and in countless other amazing locations.

For a wholesome India experience, we offers Golf combined with sightseeing, cultural tours, cooking tours, spa & yoga tours and more. We conducted a Golf Tournament in Srinagar at Royal Springs Golf Course from 24th June 2011 for 02 nights with a great turnout & hope to continue the trend at various other golf courses in India in the years to come.
